Isabel is back in the crib

She got this great tent that goes over her crib from tita tusa this weekend.  Ever since then she started napping and sleeping overnight in the crib again.  She hasn't slept in her crib since 9 months ago.

We has been trying to entice her back to the queen bed but no results.  She LOVES her tent and insists on closing the drapes on it when she naps or sleeps at night.  I guess she is learning about her personal space.  
Such a big girl now.

Top 10 Most Useful Baby Product (so far)

Isabel turns one month old tomorrow - yeah! For her first month, here are the top 10 most useful baby products

1. Boppy breast feeding pillow (see photo) - use it about 10-12 times a day (really saving my arms).

2. Of course, Diapers and wipes - She goes through 12-15 a day

3. Her wonderful crib and mattress - she sleeps in it every night and sometime plays in it during the day

4. Halo swaddle blankets - we try to learn how to swaddle with a regular square blanket, but this is so much easier even if it's $20 per blanket.

5. White long sleeve shirts with covers for her hands - Isabel wear this almost every day. We love the ones with buttons instead of the ones that have to be pulled over her head. The hand cover is a must since babies are prone to scratch their faces if their hands are not covered.

6. Baby Monitor - we have two receivers with rechargable batteries, so we always have one fully charged. We use this everyday.

7. Receiving blankets - we are using the receiving blankets for everything: to cover her, to cover the boppy pillow when feeding, to prop her in the right position for feeding.

8. Wash cloths : for wiping her face, for her sponge baths, for drying her bootie after wipes. We have two kinds (one for her upper body, one for her lower body)

9. Bouncer: so she can sit with us in the living room and play a little.

10. Car seat - Isabel loves sleeping in it after a drive.

A Beautiful Crib for our Baby

We love the crib we finally got for our baby, but it almost didn't happen.

I originally registered for a Simplicity crib at Target, only to find out a month ago that Simplicity was involved in the largest recall in history last year due to 3 infant deaths associated with their crib.

Wow, good thing I googled the brand before we bought that one. "Baby Bargain," a good book on what to buy based on safety and how to save cost also gave Simplicity a "F" rating.

You may ask "why did I register for that crib in the first place?" Well, it received 4.5 stars out of five on both Target and Amazon, so I thought what a great deal and good rating. I guess you cannot trust it fully. The crib was slightly differently from the one recalled, but still I don't want to take that chance with my baby. I learned my lesson to always google the brand as well and check on the Baby Bargain book.

Luckily we found out in time and decided on this one "April Crib" from Pali Design. Thanks to the generosity of Jaime's best friends and my parents for buying this crib for us as a shower gift. Thank you!!! We love it.
- It's made in Italy
- solid wood
- has an audible click sound on the drop rail so you know it's locked in place
- my dad and Jaime put it together 3 weeks ago when my parents were visiting
- matches perfectly with the rest of the room decor
- It's more pricey but in this case definitely worth every penny

We can't wait for our baby to try it out. The Wall hanging you see also fits perfectly. It was sent from Tita Yol, our great aunt, who is 85 years old. She sew it herself. It says "shh, baby lapena is sleeping..." so perfect.

Now our guest room really looks like the baby nursery... so much anticipation and excitement.. :-)
