Isabel's 3 year old Check Up

Isabel is a very healthy girl and had a quick check up
  • 55% for weight (32lb) and height (37.5 inches).  I was surprised that height is only 55% but that's what she said
  • Her eyes seem normal to the Dr.  She defers to Dr. Susan Day, the specialist and the Specialist we saw on April 16 says Isabel should outgrow it.  The only thing Dr. Hume (her pediatrician) asked was perhaps it was not eye related but a short seizure but when we described the symptom and show her the video of her playing the guitar, she concludes it's not brain or seizure related.  Dr Day's diagnosis is good
  • Her skin also is normal.  Just keep putting lotion, keep her from scratching and only bath every other day. There is unfortunately no cure.
So it was a quick and short visit.  No shots today. We also got her paperwork for her pre-school.  Isabel is such a big girl now.  Next visit, next year May 7th after she turns 4.  ahhh...

Isabel's 2.5 year old check up

All is good. She is 30 pounds and 36.5 inches tall. She is at the 75% for weight and height. She was given a booster shot for an immunization. She cried for 10 seconds and then got distracted by the lollipop.

Doctor said we can
- switch her to slim milk instead of whole milk. 20 oz is still fine
- her diet of rice, bread, chicken nuggets, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, hummus etc. sounds good
- don't let her play in the bath as it will dry her skin. 3 to 4 times bath a week is good
- use fragrance free lotion to make sure skin is not dried by fragrance lotion: no need to go to allergist. She will outgrow the dry skin (crossing our fingers)
- we need to brush her teeth with a manual toothbrush in the morning and only use electric at night so her teeth are not desensitized

All is good. A very healthy, active girl!

Very healthy Isabel

We took her to her 18 months check up last week and all is good. She is
  • 33.75 inches tall at 90%
  • weighs almost 24 lbs which is at 50%
  • and her head size is at around 75%
She had 3 shots and cried for 20 seconds and was over it with no reaction afterward which is awesome. The doctor only had two advice for us
  1. try to have her sleep 12 hours at night + 1 to 2 hour nap during the day. We been putting her to bed at 7:30 now and she gets up around 7pm and smiling even more, so it's great
  2. less milk and more table food - she should have less than 18 oz of milk and more food from our dinner. Which is also working out great. She is even stealing Agnes's wrap sandwich now. Very cute - we have a video we will share in another post.
All is good. We also got referrals to dentists as Isabel has 6 teeths and many more coming out, so we are supposed to go see one in the next 6 months. Her stitches from her surgery is healing well. Had some bruising on one side and a little bubble but is much better now. She is such a strong, happy little girl. We are very blessed.

p.s: this picture with the post is old - probably when she was only 15 months old but it's so cute!

Isabel is 6 months old

Isabel is such a healthy, active, and happy little girl. She turned 6 months old on Nov 2 and had her check up on Nov 4th.

All is great. 100% breastfed; 27.5 inches - very tall for her age. 16.5 or 18 lbs we are not sure. When we weighed her at home, she was 18 lbs. At the dr office, she weighed only 16.5 lb. Maybe she was holding onto the sides. don't know. She is somewhere in between that.

Her weight is at 60 percentile which just means she is a very active girl and is digesting her food well. She got 4 more shots, only cried a little. Jaime, Agnes, and I also got shots too - T-dap (whopping cough) and Flu. We usually wouldn't have, but for the protection of the baby, we did.

Now we are starting solids with her - rice cereal first. She is loving it.
