Stitch Fix Sucks

Jaime gave a very generous gift certificate to try Stitch Fix - an online service that will send you clothes in the mail for a styling fee that can be used to cover cost of any purchase I make if I like the clothes.  The concept is great but after 3 tries so far, I have found them to suck on execution - poor quality control and bad customer service and pretty over-priced clothes.

Styling fee is $20 and all clothes are $48 and up to $88 for the cheapest options. More expensive option can go up to a few hundred dollars.   That's okay if the clothes were good but here were the issues
  1. Poor quality - My 3rd "fix" arrived and I like one of the pieces but it had black fuzz all over it.  I emailed to see if they can send me another one. They said they can't but said they will offer me a dry cleaning discount.  I had to ask again how much and they said $10 for this $48 piece.
  2. Bad customer service - I emailed back to tell them the fuzz probably won't come out with dry cleaning and I am going to return everything.  I also requested my $20 styling fee refunded.  They agreed.  I sent back the clothes and then nothing happened.  I had to email them a 3rd time to ask for the refund and then they did it.
  3. Bad to worse customer service - After thinking about it, I decided I really don't want to try any more "fixes," I rather get a check for the $80 credit I still left or have it refunded to Jaime's card.  and this is what they wrote me.  Hi Lei, Unfortunately we are unable to refund credits after they've already been purchased. Let us know if you would like us to cancel and deactivate your account and we will do so accordingly. Have a great weekend!"  I don't about you but this sounds like once you decide to try them, they will hold your money hostage. Worse, they will offer to cancel your account promptly so that they can just keep the money.
I don't care how much more funding this company has gotten.  They are no BirchBox.  What is supposed to be a convenient, fun experience turned out to be time consuming and down right frustrating.  I have no other choice but to schedule another "fix" in order to spend the rest of my credit.  I don't recommend trying them.

Lei

I love bikram yoga

It was a typical Monday night. I feel a little tired but gets Into my yoga outfit anyway so I would be incented to go.

I eat dinner and feel more tired and begin to have an internal debate - maybe I am just too tired to go to yoga. Maybe I should rest since its cold flu season. Maybe....

Well my logic prevailed. 99% of the time after such a debate and I decide to go anyway I feel awesome afterwards.

Well now I just finished class. I feel accomplished and relaxed. So glad I showed up today

Isabel gets orange belt

We are so proud of isabel who tested this sat and got orange belt. She and another boy are the most senior of all the karate classes - total about 50 kids.

We are glad she still like it and she is proud of herself to keep learning and achieving in this.

I am so giddy

I was inviting a friend of mine to write a guest article on my career success blog. She totally agreed but that's not the best part.

The best part is two months later she told me a friend of her in Florida sent her a website to read and it was my site. I am reaching more people than ever.

Just finished day 21 of the 30 day plank challenge

The girl in this photo is not really doing the plank right but the challenge is interesting. Tomorrow I have to do a three minute plank. Wish me luck.

Nice brunch with some Stanford friends

We have meant to get together for awhile now. For one reason or another, its been two years before we actually made it happen. Better late than never.

In this photo are two of my friends from Stanford.
- Mike and I met freshman year. We lived in the same dorm and have been friends ever since. Cathy and Cedric are his wife and 13 months old son
- Olympia and I met through taking numerous electrical engineering classes together at Stanford. I think we were two of the seven women in our class. Haha

We will make a effort to see each other more often. Next year is our big reunion year. Can't believe it.

Diwali is NOT a women's holiday

Imagine my surprise when someone told me he true meaning of Diwali. It is basically India new year holiday of lights

I have mistakenly thought for the last two years that it was India's women's holiday because my girlfriend Ena always hosts an all women's gathering to celebrate Diwali. I just assumed... well that Diwali must India's women day.

Oops. Well now I know. We had fun today at her house

Isabel finishes her first season of soccer

She had a lot of fun and the team spirit was great. Hopefully my dad can teach her and me some good drills to practice when he visits during Xmas.
